Mr. Courtney Davis

My name is Mr. Courtney Davis. I was born in Alexander City, Alabama and raised in Kellyton, Alabama. Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, I taught at Jefferson Davis High School, 9th-12th grade Biology, Environmental Science and Zoology, located in Montgomery Public Schools. I also taught at Alexander City Schools for over six years as a secondary science teacher, teaching BIology, Environmental Science, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.

Within my years in the classroom, I served in many leadership positions, such as being an Assistant Coach for boys wrestling from 8th-10th grade. I also was the head coach for Benjamin Russell High School’s (BRHS) first bowling team for boys and girls. I also held the position and title of chairperson for Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) Committee at Benjamin Russell for over four years. I started my mentoring group known as B.R.O.T.H.A. (Brothers Reaching Out To Help Another) while working on my Master’s Degree at Jacksonville State University and ran it for two years while serving as a teacher at BRHS. I also led a counseling group along with the assistance of the counselors at BRHS known as L.I.O. (Let It Out), after losing my baby brother due to gun violence to assist students that had lost loved ones, struggling with self-confidence, etc.

Students are my passion and I know that my life has been a testament to them through my instruction, words of affirmation, and my continued mentorship in their lives even after graduating from high school. I’ve always wanted to go into administration, and I will always be a life-long learner to better prepare the teachers and students I serve currently and will serve in the future. One of my favorite quotes from W. E. B. Dubois is “Children learn more from what you are than what you teach.” Therefore, I must practice what I preach and teach to those around me, but I know that actions truly speak louder than words could ever say.

I am here at Hueytown High School to lead but also to serve. If you need me, please never hesitate to reach out to me. I am but a call, email, or meeting away.

Yours truly,
Mr. Davis
